Dr. James Whitfield , MD

Dr. James Whitfield is a fellowship-trained retina specialist who treats medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He completed ophthalmology residency at Emory University and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

At UCC he manages AMD, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular disease — performing in-clinic injections and coordinating vitrectomy when needed.

Patients describe him as calm, thorough, and unhurried. He believes retina care is a long-term relationship, not a one-time visit.
